The Tank Watch was conceived in 1917 based on a simple idea: four straight lines including two distinctive barnyards, or shafts, in gold or platinum, a sapphire cabochon on the crown and a leather strap. It had a definitive purity of form that would never be out of fashion. A revolutionary square shape was born that shook the world of watchmaking.  The Tank story was just beginning. In 2012, the story of this collection continued with the introduction of the Tank Anglaise, and a demanding design that pushed the limits of integration even further. The distinctive features of this iconic watch include an even more perfect alignment of the shafts that now hose the winding crown. More vibrant than ever, the collection ushers into its ranks the contemporary, masculine design of the Tank MC watch, evidence of the Maison's relentless creativity. This is a new model powered by the Maison's 1904 MC manufacture movement, which is visible through the open back.

Cartier reinterpreted the round watch and added its touch of creativity. Within its rounded silhouette, the numbers are magnified under the convex sapphire crystal. The crown, with its sapphire cabochon, is protected by an arch.
